Voices: Woodbury DTC Endorses DeStefano

Woodbury - The Woodbury Democratic Town Committee has endorsed Greenwich entrepreneur Ned Lamont for U.S. Senate and New Haven Mayor John DeStefano for Connecticut governor in the statewide democratic primary to take place Tuesday, August 8.

In action taken at the committee's monthly meeting July 18, the Woodbury DTC recommended Mr. Lamont over Sen. Joseph Lieberman in the Senate primary contest.

Mr. DeStefano faces Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy in the Democratic gubernatorial primary.

Woodbury DTC members praised Mr. Lamont for his forthright opposition to the Bush administration's policies in Iraq and his strong advocacy of healthcare reform, protection of civil liberties and other core issues on the democratic national agenda.

Mr. DeStefano has received high marks from DTC members as an experienced leader whose ability to deal with diverse constituencies and resolve difficult policy issues will serve him well in Hartford.

DTC Chair Lesa Peters urged all registered Democrats to vote in the primary. She reminded Woodbury residents that absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerk's office or online at www.sots.ct.gov/ElectionsServices/Elecform.html.
