New Haven—The DeStefano for Governor campaign announced Monday that Derek Slap will be leaving his post at the City of New Haven for a new position as Communications Director for DeStefano’s gubernatorial campaign.
"I look forward to working with Mayor DeStefano to communicate his vision for making Connecticut a better place to live. This is an incredible opportunity to help move our state forward. As a former journalist, what I loved most was talking with people - not at them - about issues that affect their lives. For the next 9 months the DeStefano campaign will engage in a substantive conversation with Connecticut's families and I am honored to be a part of that,” Slap said.
“Derek has served the city of New Haven well and I am thrilled that one of our state’s most talented communications minds is joining my campaign team. He has seen firsthand what we have achieved in New Haven by working together, and I am glad wants to help us do even more for the state as a whole,” DeStefano said.
