I joined the DeStefano campaign because I wanted to find ways to help make our state and our world a better place. My job is to help people learn why Mayor DeStefano should be the next Governor of Connecticut. It is to help people become more involved in working together to elect Mayor DeStefano Governor and thereby help make our state a better place.

This evening, however, I am struck by news I am hearing from Niger. No, I am not talking about Yellow Uranium and whether or not people in Washington have abused power to destroy their critics, I am talking about drought and famine in Niger. Read the CNN article or the BBC article.

So, for those of you who want raw meat of insider politics in Connecticut, I apologize, this post is about the broader aspects of being part of a caring community that is concerned not only for our state, but also for people around the world who do not have enough to eat. Please, do what you can to help.

Hi Aldon--

I am watching Larry King not-so Live, (re-airing), while catching up on the blogs.

So, so glad you are putting this forward, b/c the people starving out there in this world are easily more important than Larry King's current segment, "Hulk Hogan's Reality TV Life".

I mean starving Africans are not so glamorous as Hulk Hogan's platinum blond family, but the human tragedy still exists, no matter how much the consumer culture of America wants to ignore/deny it.

I hope you might put up a link on the website, or send out a mailing, but in honor of our common humanity, and our online community, I just gave $100 online to Doctors without Borders.

Again, so glad you are hitting these notes, and thank you for your leadership.

I find it reprehensible that a purportedly progressive campaign can't even make the changes that my local bird seed dealer has. In order to differentiate the name of a nation (and thistle seed) from a horrific racial slur, this has been renamed and re-pronounced NYJER. Get with the program. Shame on you!

As a general rule, I don't delete comments, unless they are clearly generated by spambots designed to drive traffic to specific sites.

When I read the post by 'Caleb Nasrie', I initially thought it was this sort of spam, trying to promote a birdseed company. However, when I looked more closely I saw that it is from the same computer address as other comments by people supporting Rell. At least three different pseudonyms have been used from this address.

It is truly sad that Rell supporters do not have the courage of their convictions to publicly stand behind their words. What is even more sad is the way they make light of human suffering.

We need a leader, like Mayor DeStefano, who understands working hard to help all people.
