Campaign Finance Reform

Posted by Aldon Hynes on June 7, 2005 - 2:06pm.

Last week, Governor Rell announced her willingness to support campaign finance reform. This sudden change was met by many with skepticism and disbelief, as can be noted in the comments to this blog post, and this blog post.

Today’s Hartford Courant has an article about last night’s campaign finance summit ending In rancor.

Mayor DeStefano has consistently supported campaign finance reform. He has worked for reform not only in state elections but also in municipal elections. In April, together with Martin Looney, they wrote this piece about campaign finance reform for the Hartford Courant.

Clean Up Connecticut is urging everyone to call their legislators and urge them to help get campaign finance reform back on track. They are also urging supporters to gather at the state capital starting at 5:30 this evening.

Please do your part to support campaign finance reform.

I have been told that the article was not published in the print version. It was only published online. I have been told that the online article may be pulled because of its excessive inaccuracies. I do not know if there is any formal investigation into the ethics of the article, but I would encourage people to read The Society of Professional Journalists' Code of Ethics.
