Rell stated that she was "shocked" that the Groton Sub base was among those added to a list of potential military closings. It should come as no surprise because of the administration's ambivalence about job growth — and its lackluster performance at attracting and maintaining jobs.
This year alone Connecticut has already felt the impact of the loss of the Marine One Helicopter for Sikorsky, the loss of hundreds of jobs at MetLife and now the threat of losing the sub base in Groton — with no visible fight from Governor Rell.
Connecticut needs to create an environment where jobs can grow. We need leadership to help protect, promote & attract business to grow jobs, grow the economy, grow wealth for our families.
We should expect more.
