One of the reasons I was so interested in working with the DeStefano campaign is that I want to encourage as many people as possible to get more engaged in how our towns, cities, and state are run. Many people have no idea how to get started. I hope this blog will be one way that people can become more informed and more involved. I hope people will join the mailing list to get updates and I hope people will take advantage of other opportunities to get more involved.

One such opportunity is the Democracy School. The first class of the second session of Democracy School starts this evening, and Mayor DeStefano will address the class. After this, the Mayor will head over to Stratford to address a leadership education class for members of the Teamsters.

Tomorrow, the Mayor will meet with members of an Italian Fraternal Organization at the Pasta Fair in Norwalk. Personally, I hope to hear a little bit about his recent trip to Italy and what we can learn cities in Italy to help make our cities better.

Thursday, the Mayor will address the Milford Democratic Town Committee at the Elk’s Club on New Haven Avenue. It is an exciting time to be involved with Milford Democratic Town Committee. The new speaker of the house is Jim Amman from Milford and Gayle Slossberg ran an exciting campaign with lots of grassroots support and upset long time incumbent Win Smith.

On Saturday, the Mayor will provide welcoming remarks at the Connecticut Hispanic Democratic Caucus. He should even find time to get his car washed at the Clean Cars for Clean Elections car wash in New Haven.

I hope to meet some of you at these various events throughout the week.
