A Winning Combination: $1.79 Million and You

Posted by John DeStefano on April 7, 2005 - 10:39am.

Thank you for visiting Blog for Connecticut. About 200 people a day visit our site to see the latest news of the campaign.

I want to hear what you think about Connecticut, the campaign, and how we can win this race. So please leave a comment - I read them all!

We will announce later today that we raised over $400,000 in this past fundraising quarter, bringing us to a total of $1.79 million in money raised. A year ago, no one imagined that our campaign could raise almost $2 million and win the endorsement of Connecticut's second largest group of organized labor, the Connecticut State Building Trades. And we are just getting started.

Strong fundraising is important for helping to communicate our message of vision, hope and excellence for Connecticut, but even more important is having a strong group of activists around the state.

People like you.

We have 982 email addresses on our list of supporters right now. Over the next four weeks, we are going to double that list and build it to 1900 people who believe in a better Connecticut. Reach out to your friends, family and co-workers who want Connecticut to be the best it can be and invite them to join us.

If everyone who visits the blog in the next week brings just one new person to the community, we will achieve our goal.

We have come so far in the past year -- because of you. Thank you again.

Shonu did the "RUNNING MAN"! And it's all because we surpassed $400,000 in fundraising this quarter. Shonu demonstrates her version of this classic late 80s/early 90's dance whenever the campaign has a major success. Please help us reach 1900 addresses so we can see it again!

Way to go you guys! Keep up the good work!

I am amazed at how many people I talk to who aren't sure about the Mayor until they meet him. Then they can't say enough. I think he is going to take a lot of people by surprise in the next few months!

I am telling everyone I know to sign up with your campaign!

$1.79 million?!? It sounds like people are really responding to Mayor DeStefano's message...keep getting it out there, since I know this state is ready for a governor who will fight for the middle class and a better quality of life for folks like you and me. You know I'm on board!

Hi all! Fantastic Q1 numbers. Congratulations!

Last week I heard John's stump speech for the first time, and I was more or less blown away by it. (Great honesty and emotion.)

In honor of Mayor DeStefano's tenacity, I just gave another $50 to the campaign. (I know, a drop in the proverbial bucket.) I also invited three friends to join the campaign.

What is the chance you could put up the option to make monthly contributions? They did this at the Dean Campaign, and they do it at the DCCC. I know there are many people who can't or won't write big checks, but who would be happy to give $10, $20, or $50/month to help get rid of the Republicans.

Thanks!

200 viewers a day, WOW! HI EVERYONE! I'm so happy that you've come to see what the campaign is about. So tell me - what do you want to see more of on the blog?? I'd like to see what you think!
(in grand fashion TrueBlue already made the first recommendation – way to go TrueBlue).

True Blue,

Thanks for the 50 bucks.

A drop in the bucket? You may think that it doesn't make a difference, but it does. It makes a big differnce.

Every dollar really matters! We all greatly appreciate your support!

That's great and all about the $1.79 million, but what's the deal with the attached picture (from the email)? I've seen DeStefano recently, and he looks a lot better than that picture. Doesn't the campaign have a more up-to-date pic?

Thanks Bob--good point. The Mayor does look better now. We will update our picture for next time!

So DeStefano's raised more with a year and a half to go than Curry did in his entire campaign. At this rate, where will that put the campaign by the end? I mean, other than with a good shot to win...

SO exciting. The momentum of DeStefano's campaign is great. And sure, we're celebrating the fact that money has been raised so he can get his message out across the state, but its the message that really gets me excited. Change IS good, and he'll get that important message out to all of 'status quo' Connecticut soon enough.

The reason that the fundraising the DeStefano campaign is important for so many reasons. Not only does it give the Democrats a chance to get our message out there, it proves that there are a huge number of people in Connecticut that are willing to support change. It's a great way to answer Republicans that constantly point out Rell's approval ratings. If everyone in the state is so happy with her leadership, why are so many of us reaching into our wallets and supporting John? Keep up the good work.

Mayor DeStefano continues to prove that a strong, progressive message will resonate with people all across Connecticut. Coupled with the campaign's amazing organizational and fundraising abilities, I am more and more convinced that John will be able to excite the voters of Connecticut as they propel him to the Democratic nomination and into the Governor's office.
