Ah, the eternal question, where are the true believers?, You know those who want to give to the cause, but aren't asking "What's in it for me"?

Look, there are many people out here like myself, willing to volunteer time and money to a Democrat worth believing in. Is Johnny D that candidate? CT wants to know.

I happen to have faith in the Mayor. I've watched him in action for 11 years, and I've found him to be accountable. One party politics has its problems, but for over a decade, John has done an extraordinary job as New Haven's leader.

Myself, I happen to believe in participatory democracy. This blog, where you can both listen, and be heard, is inspiring, if it is indeed real. (The cynic might wonder if it is machine politics trying to put on a happy face?)

Anyway, John's campaign is the most interesting I've seen in Connecticut for a long time. I hope John can overcome his hurdles, and become the first Democratic governor in a very long time.

You meet enthusiastic supporters one at a time, at Destefano house meetings, town committee meetings, PTA meetings, ball games, on blogs, at church, in synagogues, mosques, and Quaker meetings houses. I’m still pretty new to politics, but one thing I’ve learned: The Old Taboo’s is passing away: it is now permissible to talk politics at home, at work, at play, and at the dinner table. Sane, clear, meaningful politics begins at home. And so I’ve chosen my issues, checked out (and met) the candidates, and made my choice. I am supporting John Destefano. Meeting people like Rosanna is only half the battle. Another important step is having something for Rosanna to do and DeStefano for CT does just that. The DeStefano Campaign for governor is filling an important role in the lives of up and coming Democrats. John's campaign offers a wide range of opportunities to get involved. Other candidates only want you if you can raise tons of money. The DeStefano campaign is doing a great job of raising money but doesn't turn its back on people who just want to spread the word about how great John would be for the people of Connecticut. Personally, I am thrilled that DeStefano is starting to have house meetings. What a great opportuinity for people of all walks of life, some who might not even be all that involved in politics, to come together and learn about this dynamic candidate from their friends!

I'm betting you'll find lots of Rosannas coming out of the Public Assistance offices around the state. Rosanna probably has plenty of volunteer time on her hands because she consumes tax dollars, instead of working and producing them. I'm also willing to bet the beautiful 16 month old probably isn't in a two parent (section 8) home, and Dad is not contributing to his, ahem, welfare. That's the "core constituency" for Johnny D, isn't it??

well speedy, you must know rosanna well to make such a bold statement. could another option be that rosanna is someone we should admire? could she be a woman who gave up a successful career to be at home with her child? could it be that between savings and her husbands earnings that she is fortunate enough to spend her time with her child but also has time to volunteer to make the state where her child will grow up one full of opportunity? you did have one thing right speedy, rosanna is one of destefanos core constituency, she's someone who believes connecticut can be greater than it is today, she is someone who knows that change doesn't happen when we are all idle.

Public Defender: Did you really mean to indicate that a single mom who gets public assistance can't be admired? You should be ashamed of yourself! Your attitude is one of a Neanderthal. The poor single mothers in our state receiving public assistance deserve our utmost respect, and should be encouraged to volunteer their valuable time in helping elect a truly progressive governor.

House meetings are a chance for the campaign to get a chance to interact with absolutely anyone who is willing to listen. DeStefano supporters open their homes to others as a place to learn more about the candidate. There is a campaign surrogate - anyone from Kathy DeStefano (the mayor’s wonderful wife) to grassroots supporters willing to commit their time to introduce John DeStefano to the voters of Connecticut.
