New Q-Poll Declares: DeStefano 'Inching up on Gov. Rell'
June 08, 2006
Mayor DeStefano also holds 11-point lead among likely voters over his Democratic opponent.
New Haven - Derek Slap, Communications Director with the DeStefano campaign, released this statement regarding the latest Quinnipiac University Poll:
"The poll is gratifying because it reveals that voters continue to be motivated by John DeStefano's ideas for moving Connecticut forward. In the last few weeks, DeStefano has called on Wal-Mart and similar companies to stop passing the buck when it comes to health care costs for its employees and he announced a plan to ensure that the minimum wage always keeps up with the cost of living. DeStefano talked with seniors in Meriden about his plan to help them receive better health care and he's shared his vision for universal health care with voters in Norwich. We agree with the poll's director, Douglas Schwartz, "Mayor DeStefano is inching up on Gov. Rell, but there are many more inches to go." Over the next few months DeStefano will continue to relentlessly address the issues working families care about, and inch by inch this campaign about ideas will serve notice to Gov. Rell - Connecticut is ready to be number one again."
